April has been one of those months where I’ve barely come up for air, in the best possible way. Each day has been spent immersed in the studio, working toward my goal completing a new body of work for the Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong.

Each year, the Singapore based gallery that represents me, Redsea Gallery, presents a booth at the fair. This year, I was asked to contribute four small and four medium sized paintings. Having completed most of the smaller works at the end of March, April became all about bringing the four medium pieces to life. It has been an intense but incredibly rewarding month, and I’m excited to see the full collection come together.

Alongside studio work, I’ve also returned to exhibiting at local markets, using the opportunity to explore which events feel like the right fit for both myself and my work. The Kalamunda Artisan Market was a standout, the atmosphere, the quality of the stalls, and the people made it a truly enjoyable experience, and it’s one I’ll definitely be returning to. I also trialled a couple of farmers markets and while they were enjoyable and a great way to connect with people, I’m still refining which markets align best with my work. My aim is to find a sustainable rhythm, ideally attending a market every second weekend. I’ll be sharing upcoming dates on my social media, so keep an eye out if you’d like to visit.

This month has also marked a renewed focus on my social media accounts. Over the past six to eight months, I had fallen out of the habit of regularly filming and sharing content. In April, I made a conscious effort to change that and have begun rebuilding momentum. I’ve also started filming longer form videos, with plans to relaunch my YouTube channel. The vision is to create a mix of studio vlogs, behind-the-scenes insights, and instructional content. While I don’t have a set launch date just yet, the groundwork is well underway, including planning topics and developing ideas for future online classes.

In addition to this, I’ve been exploring the possibility of offering in person workshops around the Perth area. I’m currently researching suitable venues and working through how teaching could fit alongside my existing studio schedule in a sustainable way. This is likely something that will take shape in the second half of the year, but it’s an exciting direction that I’m looking forward to developing further.

Thank you as always, for following along and supporting my work, it truly means so much to me.

See you in the next newsletter, Bec
